Putting New Zealand back into New Zealand Police

Due it’s British colonel origins 177 years ago, the New Zealand Police lacked a brand and tone of voice that was truly reflective and distinctive of a Kiwi organisation and that encompassed tikanga Māori - to connect with New Zealander’s in a relevant way. Brief: Rebuild the New Zealand Police brand, tone of voice and communications to reflect Aotearoa. To enable the organisation to be relevant to the community . Idea: Every touch-point of New Zealand Police comms reflect Aotearoa. The koru, unique and understood by New Zealanders, is a key design feature symbolising life, unity and community. This narrative informed the entire visual identity and integrated Te Reo Māori into key communication with prominence and pride alongside english. There is now a visual communication system for Police to display their commitment to the Māori language and Treaty of Waitangi. This empowers Police to strive toward one of their key values; partnering with Māori.
